My Story
Carrie Blamer
My journey into Equine Gestalt Coaching began in an unexpected place: a one-on-one meeting with my kind boss, where it was determined that I was the source of an office conflict that had begun affecting the entire staff.
I didn’t realize it then, but at that moment something cracked open in me. It set me on a path to understand why I reacted the way I did, why certain patterns kept repeating, and why peace felt so elusive. What I discovered was profound — that becoming my authentic self and finding inner peace were not separate pursuits at all but deeply intertwined.
That difficult conversation became the first breadcrumb on a trail that led me toward healing, self-awareness, and ultimately, the work I now do with horses and humans. Who knew that being called forward in such a vulnerable way would become the catalyst for a life aligned with purpose, truth, and freedom.

Gestalt + Horses = Whole‑Person Integration
Gestalt methodology emphasizes awareness, somatic experience, and present‑moment truth. When combined with the horse’s intuitive feedback, clients gain insights that are immediate, embodied, and deeply transformative.
Research‑supported benefits of experiential and somatic approaches include:
- Increased emotional awareness
- Improved self‑regulation
- Greater clarity in decision‑making
- Reduction in rumination and anxiety
- Enhanced ability to complete unresolved experiences (“unfinished business”)
The Science Behind Equine‑Assisted Gestalt Coaching
Modern research continues to validate what horse‑people have known for centuries: horses help humans heal, regulate, and reconnect with themselves. Their nervous systems, social attunement, and non‑judgmental presence make them extraordinary partners in personal growth.

How Horses Support Human Regulation
Horses have a highly sensitive nervous system capable of detecting subtle changes in human heart rate, muscle tension, and emotional state.
Studies show that horses can synchronize their heart rhythms with humans during calm, attuned interaction — a phenomenon known as cardiac coherence.
This co‑regulation supports emotional grounding, stress reduction, and increased presence.
Research highlights:
Participants in equine‑assisted programs show significant reductions in cortisol (stress hormone) and increases in parasympathetic nervous system activity (rest‑and‑digest response).
Heart‑rate variability (HRV), a marker of emotional resilience, improves during equine‑assisted sessions.
Positive Outcomes Reported in Equine‑Assisted Programs
While each client’s experience is unique, studies across multiple populations consistently show strong positive outcomes:
Stress Reduction: 60-80% of participants report significant decreases
Emotional Regulation: Improvements in 70-82% of particpants
Self-confidence & Empowerment: 65-85% improvement
Overall Well-being & Life Satisfaction: 70-88% report meaningful positive change
